Mondo Candido plot
Candido is a gentle and innocent young man raised by a noble family in a castle in Westphalia. In his youth he is referred to by Dr. Pangloss trained, a teacher of metaphysics and philosophy. Pangloss believes that our world is the best of all possible worlds and that any folly, misery and strife are really just parts of a greater whole that we mortals can barely perceive. Life is bright for Candido until he is caught with the Baron's daughter and he is banished from his earthly paradise. He ends up in a hellish world, which is timeless, and in his search for his lost beloved experiences the most horrible things so that he eventually loses his optimism. The film is a free adaptation of Voltaire's cynical satire "Candide ou l'Optimisme"
