Kogda Derevya Byli Bolshimi plot
As a result of the war, but perhaps also laziness, a World War II veteran (Yuri Nikuline) has turned to alcohol and has developed an aversion to any work. One day, he joins a collective farm, pretending to be the father of a young woman (Inna Gulaya). At first, his old habits cause trouble, until he falls in love and sees his wasted life in a whole new light.
