Hardy Buchanan is a poor senior high school student. He is surrounded by the wealth of an elite private school. He struggles to support his unstable mother and her dearest possession, Walter, their dog. When the animal becomes ill, Hardy must quickly find money for an operation. With no one else to turn to, he befriends Bo, a beautiful girl who has run away from community service. Together, they discover a way to take advantage of wayward teens with deep pockets and even more serious problems. Hardy does everything he can to save Walter and mend his broken family, while Bo's past keeps resurfacing and haunting her. But things spiral out of control and Hardy is faced with a choice: either rebuild his life or run away.
