When the Boys Meet the Girls plot

"The Boys... The Girls... and that wild, way-out, wicked, wonderful beat!"

Danny Churchill (Harve Presnell) is a wealthy young man who loves to help the handsome postman Ginger Gray (Connie Francis). Ginger's father owns a ranch in Nevada, which he risks losing to a gang of criminals because of his gambling debts. Danny and his school friends come up with a plan to convert the ranch into a motel, which will help Ginger's father get out of debt. Meanwhile, Danny tries to hide his parentage from Ginger, but he can't do it when Tess Rawley (Sue Ane Langdon), an ex-girlfriend who is still after Danny's money, suddenly reappears.

A film with little balance. It is a musical so it is to be expected that there are songs in it. But it is surprising that it varies so much from garage rock (Sam The Sham), over Britpop (Herman's Hermits), entertainment (Liberace), classic jazz (Louis Armstrong) to ... Connie Francis (for the occasion with a Phil Spector girl sound). There is no line and the atmosphere shoots in all directions in that area. In between there is also a group choreography with tap dance. Fortunately, the songs and scenes are entertaining in themselves. With the exception of the somewhat stiff interpretations brought by Harve Presnell. He is also too old for the role he plays here (college boy) and sorry but the chemistry with Connie Francis is completely missing. For chemistry you have to be with 2, but it will not be up to Connie for me because she always plays with a lot of charisma in the handful of films she has done.

I can't blow a film with Louis Armstrong anyway (bag for the Dutch) so I just focus on the positive elements of the film.
