Waldstille plot

Ben (Thomas Ryckewaert) and his girlfriend Tinka (Maartje van de Wetering) live with their two-year-old daughter Cindy in the Brabant village of Waldstille. When they get drunk in the car after a carnival evening that got out of hand, Tinka is killed in a traffic accident. Ben, who was behind the wheel, ends up in jail and Tinka's parents are given custody of Cindy. Everyone is slowly moving on with their lives. When Ben is released after a few years, his embittered in-laws still blame him for their daughter's death and incur the anger and grief of his entire village. Tinka's sister Debbie (Jelka van Houten) tries to mediate, but Ben does everything he can to restore lost contact with Cindy.
