The Trials of Darryl Hunt plot
North Carolina, 1984. Young white journalist Deborah Sykes is brutally raped and murdered. A suspect is quickly arrested: 19-year-old Darryl Hunt. There is little evidence against the black young man, other than the testimony of a former Klu Klux Klan member. Yet Hunt is found guilty by the white jury. That is the beginning of a nightmare that will last almost twenty years and in which an innocent man's life is almost destroyed. This documentary follows this controversial case from 1984 to 2004 and offers interviews of those involved and exclusive images of a twenty-year legal battle against injustice. This film shows unerringly that racism and class justice have still not been eradicated in American courtrooms.
