I thought I read the story that Spielberg based his ALWAYS on this, well this is certainly better than ALWAYS,, but that does not mean that this is a top film, especially the character of Irene Dunne was occasionally slightly irritating, bordering on feminist, perhaps I exaggerate a bit but still.

The way her character is portrayed is completely over the top, luckily Tracy manages to keep her in check a bit, putting women on a pedestal is something typically American or better said Western, the only difference is that Americans exaggerate it even more as a trope, and this is a film from the 40s, every time she is on screen the film seems to have to glorify her ego to the point of absurdity, you can imagine how bad it is in modern times now.

All in all a nice film, Tracy does a good job and Dunne does a decent job too, the ending is however quite weak.
