Michael Williams is a writer and presenter of documentaries for BBC. His wife was recently killed in a fire, an event that left his young daughter Emily with deep emotional scars. When he leaves for Italy to make a documentary about occult paintings, he decides to take Emily and her educator with him. He finds a painting by an unknown artist, which depicts a young girl who looks just like Emily. Further research indicates that supernatural powers in Emily cause hallucinations and severe mood swings. Apparently this would be related to the strange locket Richard gave her after his wife's death...
