Amando de Ossorio is best known for his Blind Dead films, but he also made a number of other horror films and this is one of them.
A rather harsh exorcism film for that time, because drinking the blood of a newborn and giving a woman the genitals of her lover are things that the Americans in The Exorcist didn't dare to show it.
Personally, I don't think the films are really comparable. Where Linda Blair was possessed by an ancient evil, Susan (Marián Salgado) became consciously possessed by a satanist witch who wanted revenge.
Marián Salgado is quite entertaining as a possessed girl. The sentences they sometimes gave her were quite rude here and there. I also like that they make her do really evil things, like murder someone through a trick.
The subplot surrounding the priest and his lover comes out a lot less well, which is mainly due to the rather stately acting of Julián Mateos.
In addition, the ending and the actual devil exorcism are quite disappointing.
Not everything about the film is equally strong, but for a Spanish horror film (which are not exactly known for their quality) I think it is still quite good.
