The Archdiocese of Naples, during the infamous years of the merciless Inquisition: The old abbess of the monastery is dying and already the battle for the succession begins. After many devious intrigues, Sister Giulia succeeds in becoming the new Mother Superior. However, her father's financial and political speculations brought her inside the gloomy monastery walls rather than religious convictions. Some time later, when the Archbishop unexpectedly arrives and conducts a thorough investigation, he soon gathers several elements to stage an Inquisition process.
