The Reading Room plot
"Come in. Sit down. Change your life."
After the death of his beloved wife Helen, wealthy African-American William Campbell (James Earl Jones) finds a tape of Helen with her legacy on it. When William watches the tape, his late wife asks him to take his huge private library to the neglected deprived area and establish a reading room there. Although he reacts confused, he agrees to this request. But the neighborhood is not interested in reading books. When he puts up a poster with the text: "free drink" the interested people slowly but surely start to trickle in.
