Eliso plot
On May 17, 1864, Grand Duke Vladimir Nikolaevic, commander of the tsarist forces in the Caucasus, sends a telegram to Loris Melikov, commander in Chechnya, giving his consent to expel the Chechen peasants from their mountain villages. Just at this time, the Georgian shepherd Vajia has fallen in love with a Chechen girl named Eliso. He travels as often as he can to the south of Russia to meet her, but their love seems doomed to fail.
