Sweet Land plot

After Inge has buried her husband Olaf, her thoughts go back to the 1920s when she came to Minnesota from Norway as a mail bride. She tells her grandson how she met her unknown groom and how it was made difficult for them to get married. The newlyweds had to deal with all kinds of social and bureaucratic rules that stood in the way of their marriage.
