Such a fictional murder of the (then) current president of the United States was quite nice. Unfortunately, the board just misses the mark. Director Gabriel Range should never have gone for a documentary style. This way creates quite a few boring scenes without any form of emotion. The actors try to convey this emotion, of course, but they do not succeed at all. It all remains very forced and unreal.
It is also a pity that the way of filming is very boring and the editing uninspired. There could have been more in "Death of a President". It's just pretty interesting now, but it's never going to be entertaining.

Movies in which Bush is ridiculed are usually nice to watch, but I thought it was going too far to watch a fictional murder + accompanying funeral of someone who is still alive. Very distasteful.

I read a lot here that it's a shame/bad that it was shot as documentary-like, because 'too much talking' and 'not exciting'. But, that's the whole joke. It IS a documentary, not a movie. The fact that it's a fake documentary about something that could actually happen (at the time of release) is what makes it brilliant. It feels pretty real and if you put in a little effort, you actually go along with it. The use of existing archive material works perfectly. The acted archive images also have their effect, although you sometimes notice a little too well that they are not documentary shots.
The message and the red line are clear and that makes it a very politically and ethically charged print. Very interesting!
