In a large country house somewhere in a warm Mediterranean country, five young people have withdrawn to focus on their great passion: reading. From early in the morning until late at night, their stay is dominated by literature. This peace-loving company consists of the bon vivant Frederik and his open-minded friend René, the stoic Anna and her insecure friend Mira and finally Werner, an eternal doubter. The peace in the house is disturbed when the group is visited by a group of stranded African boat refugees. The country house, where the tranquility of the western idyll previously reigned, is slowly changing into an aid station. The Africans come for water, a bed and are taken into the house. In this way the holiday readers are confronted with the reality of Fortress Europe. Each individual finds a way to approach these people from five different and conflicting views and so the idyll crumbles.
