Extremely weak "horror" film in which not too much happened and the murders were depicted very poorly. The roles weren't too good either, especially from "Sweet Sixteen" Melissa. Hopkins, Strasberg and Macnee also sleepwalk through the film.

To skip!

Lots of potential, but very weak indeed. I would definitely not recommend this to slasher fans, since the murders are very dull portrayed. Rather, it's a very bland whodunit whose ending doesn't touch anything. The worst part is that you can take the killer out like that.

The acting was okay for me, but the locations could have done a lot more. The whole Indians vs. I found the Cowboys story rather misplaced. The whole movie takes place in an old ranch. Quite a strange place such a dark pub to hang out in as a fifteen year old. A more natural setting for the murders to take place, such as a school, would have been better placed in this film. It also leans more towards the world of a 15-year-old.

The ending I had hoped for also failed to materialize. The party looked fun and it would have been perfect for a big slaughter, unfortunately the denouement takes place in a dark bush. There was absolutely nothing used in this film. Pity.

There were some daring scenes in it, which may not be able to be made so quickly now. 15-year-old Melissa had some very explicit nude scenes and there was some racism in the film at times.

The only nice thing about the film is the soundtrack that occasionally passes in the fairly boring parts. For the rest certainly not the film I had hoped for, certainly not as mysterious as I thought. Totally forgot about it. It is a film that is almost unknown to everyone. Even when it was released in 1983, hardly a cat has ever seen it. The people in the eighties and now certainly didn't miss a thing. Skip!

I expected a slasher. Although the slasher elements are in stock, very little slashing takes place. It is true that there is a killer and victims, but the plot is not very concerned with that. More attention is given to anti-Indian sentiments represented by two stereotypical members of the white trash community. Not an uninteresting theme in itself, but it is very simplistic in this film and is therefore not interesting at all.

It is not until well into the course of the film that the slasher elements come into play again. Disappointing is that the kills do not take place on screen. The film thus takes on the character of a whodunnit. Very sad how that goes. The research is absolutely not done professionally. That is hardly possible if the characters in the film are designed superficially and stupidly. For example, the fact that murders take place does not prevent the shocked community from celebrating a birthday party together. Well.

What you can't deny the film is a certain cozy charm. That charm makes the tolerance limit for large amounts of stupidity higher than normal. Sweet Sixteen is not a good film, but it is a film in which you recognize the passion of the makers. I didn't have a good time, but I didn't feel bad afterwards.

By the way, I have now (three days after the viewing session) already forgotten who committed the murders. That fact is significant.
