Reasonable.

Little-known project that works with a core that can be described in a single sentence. There is of course nothing wrong with that, because a lot can be added to that concept. Many of these types of films fail in this regard, so this film largely decides to ignore it. In this case I am mainly talking about the drama coming from families, who wait until they hear from the gentlemen on the open sea.

However, some images of this are still included, which gives the film a messy impression. You can either focus on adventure with a big dose of drama surrounding it, or mainly be adventurous. This film seems to choose the second option, but too often gets stuck on drama. As a result, the result actually feels run-down, as if they just started running half the script out of sheer boredom.

However, once we find ourselves on the boat, the film immediately becomes a lot more interesting. Very few really challenging situations and an entire month passes by in just 20 minutes. Structurally messy, but visually quite successful. The film looks good, especially when they take the cameras briefly underwater, but the mutual relationship between the gentlemen is also fascinating. Above average acting too, not immediately expected from Purcell.

It's a small project with a big concept, and there probably wouldn't have been the financing for that. Hopefully Laing can then realize that he simply has to direct within his capabilities, otherwise you will end up with a mess. A mess that, by the way, lasts a nice short time and is extremely pleasant to look at, hence a favorable rating.

I was never familiar with the story until now. At first, the film seemed to focus mainly on flashbacks. Which has often been shown before an accident occurs. Soon a different direction is chosen, and the story gets a bit more suspense. However, this result was a bit disappointing to me. It's interesting to see how their varying personalities create conflict while they have to work together at the same time. Unfortunately, I couldn't show much empathy for some of the characters. This only changed towards the end, after their story is questioned by the media and the public. I think the short time frame was a crucial point for such a film. Reasonable to see. This with some nice references to Jaws.

2.5 *
