Free State of Christiania in Copenhagen is both a symbol of openness to alternative lifestyles and a place of taboos and grim stories, which the inhabitants kept well hidden. The ideas sounded good at the time of its foundation in 1971. People believed in the free life, in a life in a group. But for many children at the time, it meant a lack of boundaries, abuse, fear and neglect. For the parents, each child had hundreds of fathers and mothers, for the child, on the other hand, there seemed to be none. The parents did not need control from outside, by the police or social services. This generation of children grew up in the jolly hippie days. They are now telling their story.
