In 1925, the young florentine Mario, a typographer by trade, goes to Corno to be with his girlfriend Bianca. Here he befriends Maciste, his landlord, and Ugo, both anti-fascist. When Maciste is beaten up by the fascists, the time has come to go into hiding.
