February 1988, the war between Iraq and Iran is raging in full force. Young Kurd Ako dreams of fleeing the country, but his wife Selma refuses to leave as long as her father is alive. Then Ako is forcibly conscripted into Saddam's army and sent to the front. All of Ako's attempts to get hurt and be sent home are futile. One day he is ordered to take the remains of a martyr to his next of kin. An Arab taxi driver becomes his companion on this mission. A Kurd, an Arab and on the roof of the taxi the corpse of a martyr, wrapped in an Iraqi flag... this strange convoy crosses the whole country to end up at the Kurdish mountains. An unprecedented opportunity for Ako to get away from it all...
