The Irish Ria and the American Marilyn seem to have nothing in common, except for a tragic event in their lives. When they meet by chance, both seize the opportunity to swap homes for a summer. Ria leaves for America and discovers a world open to her, while the secretive Marilyn moves into the house on Tara Road, and is included in Ria's Irish circle of friends. Although the women have never met, they get to know each other's lives with all the remarkable consequences that entails, each discovering a shocking secret about the other that will never be allowed to come out....
