Varian's War plot
Terrified pedestrians try to get to safety in Berlin. It is November 9, 1938. Nazis are destroying shops and the anti-Semitic slogans mix with the 'Heil Hitler' shouting in the streets. In this chaos is an American journalist who seems out of place here in his impeccable suit and a flower in his lapel. Still, there is no place on Earth where Varian Fry could have been better. He witnesses a war that he predicts will be an unimaginable tragedy. He cares deeply about the fate of European Jews and is determined to help them in one way or another.
