Individuals and companies responsible for developing the world's first supersonic aircraft, the SST1, face a series of unexplained accidents. Hugh Drummond is a British intelligence officer who is sent out to investigate the cause of the incidents, along with another agent, Peregrine Carruthers. They discover a plan set up by Carl Petersen, who will receive £8 million if he manages to delay the construction of the plane.
