Maria, a forty-year-old divorcee, has struggled with life anxieties since her oldest daughter left home. She tries to regain her vitality in her relationship with her youngest daughter of 13, but she starts to behave more and more independently. When one day Maria receives a letter in which her oldest daughter announces her return, the whole family prepares for this.
