Pai Yu Lao Hu plot
The lord of the House of Dafeng is beheaded by his right-hand man on the night of the wedding of his son, Zhao Wuji, who defects to the rival Tang clan, infamous for its use of poison. Strong story, weak action.
Finding the right balance between the two is no easy feat, especially in a world of hundreds of martial arts films. However, you shouldn't watch Jade Tiger for the action sequences. While there are some, they're average. The focus is on an intrigue between two clans, one of whom is skilled in poisoning. Their long-standing feud will soon be resolved with the deployment of spies. Much revolves around sacrifices necessary to achieve an ultimate goal, in this case the destruction of the Tangs.. The particularly tragic scene in the Tang residence, where Zhao Wuji kills his wife to protect his identity, forms a thrilling climax. It all starts a bit slow, but the second half makes up for it.
