A typical 80s action film in the style of Commando (1985).

Dolph Lundgren gives an entertaining portrayal of the all-destructive Spetsnaz soldier.

The plot is rather simple and not that interesting at all, but the action keeps the film interesting. M. Emmet Walsh plays an irritating character as a crude American journalist. His character doesn't have much added value in my opinion.

Funny to see that in this film the Russians are still portrayed as 'evil'. A real American cold war action, but then again, that probably happened on the other side of the curtain too.

Entertaining 80s action flick.

Little Dolf in Africa. Bad. Lundgren is a dry Soviet caricature who turns against his superiors in an African civil war where the Russians want to kill a rebel leader. He gets to rattle off about twenty nursery rhymes in the entire film. Truly one of the lamest performances ever in an action film. With his much too short shorts where his balls almost hang out, he also looks super ridiculous. Then there is the setting in Africa and the action, which are just enough to get through this film. It is not much and it is not much more spectacular than an average The A-Team episode. The Hind helicopter must clearly be the hobbyhorse of the film. Every time the opportunity arises you see the scum on screen.

Re-watched it today, this time on Blu-ray!

I raised it by half a star, because I think it is a very entertaining action film by Dolph Lundgren!

Not a dull moment, the film starts immediately when he, as a Russian, is given the assignment to kill a person, he is a member of the spetsnaz and has to complete this assignment...

He finds himself in a prison and manages to escape together with 2 other cellmates and the adventure begins!

Nice images of Africa and the different tribes, lots of action in the form of many explosions and shootings, goes a bit in the direction of war.

Also at the end an exciting climax that reminded me of Rambo!
