Hitori Musuko plot
Due to his excellent grades in elementary school, a teacher recommends Ryosuke attend a high school. At first his widowed mother Otsune doesn't want to hear about it, but in the end she agrees and decides to postpone her retirement and continue working in the silk mill. Thirteen years later, she decides to visit Ryosuke in Tokyo. She finds out that her son has a poorly paid job as a night school teacher.
