The First Circle plot

December 1949. Josef Stalin leads Russia under a tyrannical regime. In Mavrino Prison, the inmates - physicists, mathematicians and engineers - are forced to do scientific research. An invention of value to the regime can mean freedom, a failure a Siberian penal camp. Then in Moscow a phone call is made to the American embassy from a pay phone. The call is recorded by the Russians and they must and will find the man. Meanwhile, scientists at Mavrino Prison are working on the final stage of a voice analysis machine....
