5 Branded Women plot

"All The Savage Ravishing Passions of War!"

Five Yugoslav women are accused in 1943 of colluding with the Germans. They are shaved and expelled. To prove their patriotism, they take up arms against the occupying forces. Considering the story and the excellent cast, it's a strangely flat war film that just doesn't seem to get exciting, except for a few scenes. The acting is also poor. With the exception of an excellent Silvana Mangano and an adequate Jeanne Moreau, everyone falls short of their potential. Disappointing.

it is not a top film but the original story deserves praise I think, Barbara Bel Geddes her face already looked familiar to me (most people over 50 will know her from Dallas) she plays a relatively small supporting role here.

The film encyclopedia (the last edition I still have) calls this an overambitious production and gives the film only 2 stars

the film also wants to focus on the moral issues at one point, including the dehumanization of the partisans, a valiant attempt but it fails to really delve into it in depth.

Once again, the film is not a great one, but it is certainly not bad either. The only thing you can say about it is that the ending could have been better.
