A nice Allen again, which is not among his best work, but it is still an above-average fine viewer. I had to get used to the narrative structure. Looking back didn't always go well, but luckily when Danny's story really started it became a lot better and more fun.

Allen portrays a quite sympathetic character here, who tries a lot to make the failed artists around him successful. The cynicism that he always uses in his other films also returns here and those nice dialogues also push the whole thing to a higher level.

I also thought it was nice that the film was shot in black and white. It is of course a story from the past that is being told and therefore it fits well here. I also thought Mia Farrow played very well here. I'm not really a fan of her, but she fits in very well here.

3.5*

Good film about an artist manager who gets into trouble when he does a favor for his biggest star. An excellent farce in which the funny situations alternate at a brisk pace. Excellent dialogues as usual from Woody Allen, who also plays his typical role here. Mia Farrow is almost unrecognizable with the blonde hair, sunglasses and accent.

Third time I watched it and I have no idea why I gave it half a star less last time than the time before, probably because I wasn't really in the mood for it at the time and/or I was too tired.

But this is without a doubt one of Woody Allen's nicer films, he is on a roll in his typical signature style as Danny Rose, fans like me enjoy this.

It is a bit of a film that harks back to his slapstick period, but it is clear that Woody has grown more in the field of film.

Boy, why did I give half a star less? This is without a doubt and worth at least a 4!
