Lomax the Songhunter plot
Alan Lomax was 'the song hunter'. His entire life was devoted to recording folk songs before they were lost forever under the influence of the modern music industry. When director Rogier Kappers visits him in Florida in the summer of 2001, shortly before his death, eighty-six-year-old Lomax can no longer speak due to a brain haemorrhage. Kappers therefore portrays him on the basis of testimonials from employees, family and friends, and uses old interview images of Lomax himself. Kappers also has access to the many recordings, in sound and image, that Lomax and his employees made of folk music.
