Nightwish plot

"In your dreams no one can hear you Scream."

A doctor of parapsychology invites some of his students to join him in a very strange experiment. He asks his volunteers to "dream" their own death. However, it soon becomes apparent that the doctor is not really satisfied with the experiments and he decides to give his students a helping hand in their dreams.

Quite a strange film, which has an alienating effect. As the Edgar Allen Poe quote used on the VHS shows, you can't quite figure out whether it's a dream or reality,
The effects (both very good and very mediocre) create a creepy atmosphere and the actors do their best. Besides Brian Thompson, Robert Tessier and Tom Dugan are especially good, in rather crazy roles.

Highly recommended, but don't expect a huge hard/gory film!

3.5*

A forgotten movie that is actually much better than you would expect. There are plenty of movies with a similar plot gimmick that deal with it very easily, but that is not the case here. And it also remains very creepy in a strange way. The much better version of Flatliners actually, and how undeserved actually that that movie got the fame and this one didn't.

A fine cast of never-quite-broken-through but actually quite good actors and trices, with Elizabeth Kaitan at the forefront (and for me the reason to want to see this) but Alisha Das is also a discovery. And the enormously creepy Robert Tessier of course. Too bad the rest of the male roles are a bit weak. But also, the images are just on the right side of campy or crappy, and the soundtrack does the same trick.

Now let's hope I can sleep peacefully. I don't dare to think about dreams actually.
