Her Majesty plot

"Two worlds. One day will change their lives forever."

1953, New Zealand. The film follows Elizabeth, 13, who constantly writes letters to the palace asking if Queen Elizabeth would include their town in her 1954 Royal Tour. Meanwhile, Elizabeth meets the 'witch of the city', Hira Mata, an elderly Maori woman. A close friendship develops and she learns Elizabeth about the life and traditions of her people. Elizabeth's real character is tested when she has to choose between marching in the parade of her dreams (with the chance of meeting the Queen in person), and her loyalty to Hira.
