Roy Orbison is the only reason to see this movie. Not because of his acting talent or the 'brilliant' idea of giving him a guitar that also serves as a shooting gun, but solely because of his beautiful voice and a number of very nice songs, including the title song. Moreover, he is not wearing sunglasses and he is disguising himself as an elderly man! If that doesn't pique your curiosity, then you should simply ignore this otherwise very mediocre (emphasis on mediocre) Civil War Western.

Roy Orbison's debut and also his only film. He originally had a contract with MGM for 5 films, but after this commercial flop the contract was canceled. The film is also just a weak creature. A production by Sam Catsman, king of the quickies. Sam had previously made films with Elvis Presley, Orbison's colleague at the legendary Sun label where the rock'n roll revolution started in the 1950s. You can say that Elvis has shown presence and charisma in a series of (pulp) films since his debut. Roy Orbison, on the other hand, comes across as a stickler here. Of course, this rock'n roll icon has other talents as well. He - together with Bill Dees - wrote all the songs for the film. And they make the film worthwhile with variation in the songs and arrangements. Furthermore, this is an accumulation of half-failed and corny comedy.
