Dennis Carson runs a rubber plantation in Vietnam with the help of the regularly drunk McQuarg. One day his comrade Guidon arrives by boat with the prostitute Vantine. Dennis wants nothing to do with Vantine at first and he wants to put her on the next boat to Saigon. Vantine manages to seduce Dennis and they have a short-lived affair. Then the somewhat naive engineer Willis arrives with his sophisticated wife Barbara. Almost immediately Dennis is attracted to this beautiful woman...
