Ouch.
In my theme of the week - films with Julia Roberts - I had overlooked that this is a film in which brother Eric plays the leading role, and there is a striking difference between Eric films and Julia films. Yes, even then.
Details like Dennis Hopper who occasionally forgets his fake Irish accent and suddenly has a fake German accent. A character actor like Elias Koteas who doesn't really get any further than scratching his beard. Gary Swanson, the senator with his beautiful speech during the session - but the camera is not focused on him but on the lady next to him.
It is the presence of Eric Roberts - the uncrowned king of the B-movie, who simply by his astral projection, his dark aura brings down every film to that level. Or below.
