Another warclassic that I thought I'd just try, even though the comments are not nice and the figure is also according to what is shown.

Because yes, for a film with the title D-day: the sixth of June it is all a very mediocre showing and the film loses itself hopelessly in talk about relational affairs and that actually hours before the landing itself. And then an hour and three quarters of an hour is a very long time. It's a shame to actually sabotage the film on that, because with such a population migration, many nationalities and many people far from home, overcrowded England was a melting pot of people, emotions and tensions. So the idea in itself is not crazy to focus on that, but otherwise it never really gets that part exciting or very interesting. It's probably not my genre, or else I didn't really like Parker that much.

In between, the film can be caught on a number of nice things, such as the tensions between 'the stiff upper lip' Britons and bold Americans, quite different from the expected fights and accusations. Interesting is the naming and the catastrophe that the Canadians had to deal with in Dieppe and interesting is of course the case of an information leak because someone goes crazy and can no longer handle the tension. And let's not forget Dana Wynter.

Actually, this film should actually be renamed in terms of title, get a different cover and the genre interpretation of course be changed from war/romance to drama/romance. Perhaps it will then at least attract the public that wants to like such a genre. It will save the average war enthusiast two lost hours for a film that has a thought behind it, but that's where it ends for the warmonger.
