O Amor Natural plot
For O Amor Natural, filmmaker Heddy Honigmann was inspired by the erotic poetry of the Brazilian poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade (1902-1987). During his lifetime Drummond was considered one of the most important Latin American poets of this century, yet it would not be until after his death that O amor natural was published. Initially because the poet thought the poems would shock, later because he believed that they would only be considered pornography. Some very elderly Brazilians read fragments of Drummond's verses in Honigmann's film. They respond with great tenderness to Drummond's candid descriptions and reminisce about their own sexual adventures.
