Fine film noir. Gloomy story with a highly unpleasant figure, played by Lino Ventura, indeed a class act. The introductory plot around a man's murder of his mistress is later in the film completely put aside in favor of suspense and chase. A film of few words and a lot of action. I can't believe this was just playing on TV on Monday.

Not an "Ascenseur pour i'Echafaud" from a year earlier, but still a very good, solid film noir with Lino Ventura in his well-known style as a tough go-getter.
Atmospheric and although after a while you get the feeling how it will end, still exciting until the end.
The score comes up a few times here. Well, I've often noticed that in such films from that time, loud trumpet sounds liked to underline the seriousness and the dramatic. Here too, albeit to a lesser extent.
