The Vampire Bat plot

"These are the TALONS of The Vampire Bat"

In the past six weeks, six victims have been found where blood no longer flows through the veins. The mayor concludes that there is a vampire on the loose, and even the village doctor seems to believe this theory. A detective prefers to search for a human killer, but in all those weeks he was unable to find a trace. The village idiot claims to have seen the vampire, but since he is unharmed, the villagers think he is the vampire.

Nice horror film from the golden age between 1930 and 1935; this film never reaches the level of Universal classics like Frankenstein, The Mummy or The Old Dark House, but by borrowing a few sets from colleagues with bigger budgets, plus a quartet of actors from them that are always good to watch, The Vampire Bat still comes a long way. The English film critic Leslie Halliwell describes this film as "primitive but vigorous", which covers it well.
