La Mortadella plot
Maddalene and Michele fall in love, in 1960s Italy, while working at the meat factory. It is a wrong love because Michele is still married and Italy does not know the divorce. So Maddalena persuades Michele to move to the United States. Michele goes earlier and after 4 years she also comes to the United States, with Mortadella (a kind of salami) in her luggage. But customs stops her. Processed meat is not allowed into the US, so she is held at JFK airport. In the meantime, she becomes a bit wiser from the United States and from Michele.
