Nice.

This trashy thriller for the elderly unexpectedly turned out to be quite entertaining and atmospheric. As expected, the plot is not that special, but it never bored me for a moment. At times it even became quite exciting, with Andrew Pine in a convincing role as a creepy stalker. Of course, you shouldn't expect much from the rest of the acting. 6.5/10*

Independent gem directed by John Peyser. Besides a few forays into cinema, he has mainly made a career in the television world by directing all kinds of shows and series, not the least. So he knew how to portray something and that is also evident from this work, which, unlike some sleazy contemporaries, excels in terms of direction and photography. Attention is also paid to attractive settings and decoration. In the case of the ladies, attention is paid to outfitting, which means the title lives up to its promise. In terms of structure, it feels like an anthology film that enjoyed a certain popularity at the time. We are then dealing with 3 separate stories in which a beautiful, sometimes scantily clad lady plays the leading role. The first part feels like a post-hippie post-Manson Last House on the Left thing. The second part is somewhat like a giallo on a deserted island. The last part culminates in an epic final girl denouement that looks ahead to the typical later slashers.

The atmosphere in general is one of misogyny and misanthropy. The women are victims and, apart from the victims themselves, there are few, if any, sympathetic characters to be found. Andrew Prine does a great job as a psychopath.

The music is a combination of library music and pieces specially composed for the occasion. At times it is more mellow than exciting, so more could have been achieved in that area. Still, for all the reasons mentioned above, this is a memorably atmospheric piece of horror/schlock. This is unique within the oeuvre of John Peyser and that is actually quite a shame because it shows potential within the genre.
