In Nome del Papa Re plot
In 1867, when Garibaldi's forces have nearly reached Rome to found a republic, Monsignor Colombo da Priverno, a sophisticated Supreme Court judge, quits his job, disgusted by the violence used by the court itself. That night, three rebels blow up the barracks of the Zouaves. Colombo learns that during a brief liaison with a Baroness 20 years ago, he fathered a son, one of the rebels arrested for the attack. He uses his influence to free the young man, hides him at home, and then engages in an almost hopeless battle with the court.
