When Anna makes a mistake, she mistakenly begins to confess her marital worries to William Faber, a tax adviser. Deeply moved by Anna's despair, William cannot muster the courage to tell her that she was wrong and that he is not a psychiatrist. Appointment after appointment, Anna continues to confess her marital problems and a kind of strange ritual ensues between William and Anna. Again and again William is moved by the young woman. And he becomes more and more fascinated by her because she entrusts him with such intimate secrets. But who is Anna? Is she merely a victim of this game? With each passing day more captivated by this strange relationship, William and Anna begin to question their own lives, their family and their friends. Thanks to each other, they manage to have a new outlook on their lives, without really knowing where this is going...
