Romasanta plot
The discovery of a number of mutilated corpses in a large forest causes a stir and revives the legend of the 'Werewolf of Allariz'. A traveler travels through the forest in his horse-drawn carriage, while a woman faithfully awaits him from every village he visits. He is attractive, intelligent, charming... but he is also the monster feared by everyone. When Josephine becomes one of the fatalities, her sister Barbara suspects a man so kind at first sight and, driven by revenge, she opens the chase, risking her own life...

There are some nice images, but the story eventually becomes a bit tedious and drawn out. There is also a lack of tense and tense moments to shake things up. By the way, I thought the bald one looked a bit like Colonel Kurtz.

Just like director Paco Plaza's debut, Romasanta is also impossible to get through, at the expense of Julian Sands' very solid acting performance. The makers do everything to create a distinctive whole here, but include little to make a lasting impression. The romantic aspects in particular are cringeworthy and the necessary chemistry is nowhere to be seen. When it comes to the visual qualities, Plaza seems to have little idea of the era he hopes to highlight. The sets look cheap and the cinematography is ugly, which made me mostly bored through the film. Sands' role and the attempt to create something unique earn bonus points, other than that this is definitely not a film I hope to ever see again.
