Dawn of the Mummy (1981)

I was convinced this was an Italian film, but it wasn't. The German DVD was unfortunately edited, but that doesn't stop me from voting for it anyway.

My gut tells me I won't rate it any higher with the cut scenes intact. The atmosphere determined my vote here, and that atmosphere is simply good.

Just a very nice mummy movie, with laughable acting.

Either this is an extremely tame video, or I watched the cut version; the fact is that I couldn't detect little to no bloody or gory gore in this piece of work, which is otherwise known as reasonably hardcore!!

That being said, I enjoyed myself very much. Probably due to the extreme cutting and slicing by the gentlemen/ladies of the censors, the storytelling could be described as somewhat choppy.

Definitely a great addition to the Mummy/Zombie shelf. Still, I wonder if I wouldn't crank it up another point or half a point with all the shredding, biting, and cleaving action!

For Annie Schilder and her poor little burned claw, 3 thickly bandaged points.

Reviewed on the uncut Blu-ray from Treasured Films. A Section 3 Video Nasty.

You have to be patient for a bit, but in the last 20 minutes, things finally kick off. The acting is terrible, but the gore and special make-up effects are impressive.
