The Ring plot

Ariana von Gothard, the daughter of a wealthy Berlin family, sees her country being torn to pieces in the period just before World War II. When her father returns from Switzerland to fetch her, he is killed as a traitor. Alone and insecure, she marries a German soldier, who is killed a little later in the war. Pregnant and with her mother's ring as her only keepsake, she flees to New York to start a new life...
