A woman who is the natural mother of two (now grown) sons originally wanted a daughter. She adopted a Korean girl and a few years later was asked by the adoption service whether she would like to take in another child who had just had brain surgery. Once she had four children in the house, the step to five was very small, then to six, until eventually she took care of 13 children (her husband had already left her). However, they were not just any children: mother Tom is a specialist in children with disabilities.
