"What if everything you were forced to keep inside was suddenly set free?"
Bruce Banner is a researcher in a lab. He participates in a secret project to build a machine that can manipulate living cells. During an experiment, something goes wrong with Bruce. He still looks the same, but when he gets angry he changes into a big, green, muscular monster: the Hulk! The question is whether he can save himself from the entire American army that is now chasing him.

This movie within the superhero genre and version of the hulk had especially good characterization and plot development. Visually it is all very impressive and in terms of style or atmosphere it is typical Marvel Comics. Eric Bana doesn't seem like a good casting at first glance, but he does more than well in his role as the Hulk and was a real surprise to me.

Nice Hulk movie. Ang Lee is an arthouse director, and the focus of this very long Hulk film is clearly on character development and working out a solid origin story. Not a big deal, but it takes a very long time for the film to get going, and Lee can't hide the fact that Bruce Banner is really just a boring ass. Bana is an excellent Hulk, but like Norton and Ruffalo, he struggles to give the role a little more substance and flair. Jennifer Connelly, Elliott and Nolte put in some decent performances, and the original and comic book-esque scene transitions are a nice find.

Ang Lee making a superhero epic.
His martial arts attempt didn't amount to much either, so it's certainly not surprising that this Hulk isn't something to watch either. In itself you can say that it is commendable that he tries something different, but this is the worst of both worlds.
It also depends on the actors, because if you really want to deepen the characters, you still need a bunch of classmates. Bana is really dramatic in his role here, the rest is really nothing better. Then you have a lot of extra plot that doesn't catch on at all.
Then let the CG be terrible. Outdated probably, but also just not as good as its contemporaries. Very plastic, very fake. Visually it's also not really good, some bland comic strip effects that miss their target, that's about the only thing that should brighten up this film visually. Not so.
Rest 140 minutes of bad American superhero nonsense. I also wonder if many people will still be talking about these films in 30 years ...
