And especially of course for Jürgen Prochnow, who almost always has to play a (fairly well-behaved) German, or else something on the water. Now again the fallen captain, who sails to his fate with not one but even two femmes fatale. Looking too deeply into the glass, and into the glittering dresses of Liz Hurley and Patsy Kensit - who are once again typecast as loose and flat English blondes.
It does provide beautiful pictures of life on board, sailing across the ocean, and the story is actually not that bad. Except perhaps for the ending, which is a bit too easy.
